Call for Nominations

Are you a leader? Consider donating your time and talents as a member of the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP) Board of Trustees. 

The APFSP Mission: The Academy is committed to life-long learning and excellence among funeral service professionals. 
 
Academy elections are held every two years to fill the seats of Trustees whose terms have expired. The Academy Board currently has a total of 9 Trustee members. Academy members will be electing three (3) new Trustees to the Board this year, each being elected to serve a six (6) year term.

Beginning March 15, 2024, any Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) interested in serving on the APFSP Board of Trustees should submit a Letter of Intent to the APFSP office. The deadline for submission of the Letter of Intent is May 1, 2024.
 
Any CFSP in good standing, who has been certified a minimum of 5 years (since 2019), is eligible to submit a Letter of Intent.
 
A Letter of Intent should include an applicant's full name, contact information, organization and year certified as a CFSP. You may submit the Letter of Intent via email to Christie Ward, APFSP Executive Director at [email protected] or by mail, postmarked by April 30, 2024 to APFSP, PO Box 67136, Lincoln, NE. 68506.
 
Once the Letter of Intent is received, the Academy office will provide each applicant a Candidate Form to complete and return. Applicant's will also be required to submit a high-quality headshot along with their Candidate Form. This additional candidate information will be sent to voting members.
 
The 2024 APFSP Election Schedule:
  • March 15: Call for Nominations - Applicants submit Letter of Intent to APFSP office
  • May 1: Letter of Intent Deadline
  • May 31: Candidate Forms/Photographs Due
  • June 30: Candidate Information Sent to Membership/Voting Opens
  • July 31: Voting Closes 
  • August 15: Candidates and Members Notified of Election Results
  • October 19: New Trustees Installed at APFSP Board Meeting in New Orleans

The Board of Trustees is responsible for conducting, managing, and controlling the business affairs and activities of the Academy. Board members are expected to attend in-person meetings which usually occur twice a year, as well as additional periodic online meetings.
